We can face many challenges in our lives. Sometimes the stresses of these challenges can leave us feeling hopeless, anxious, stuck, frustrated, isolated, angry, distant from family and friends, and less able to enjoy the activities we use to enjoy. Therapy can be very helpful during these difficult times.
Dr. Friesen is dedicated to helping people live the best life they can, both psychologically and physically. Dr. Friesen will work with you to address the challenges and difficulties you are facing in your life, and move you towards self-awareness, self-growth, and leading a healthy, productive and satisfying life.
“Rock bottom became the foundation upon which I built my life.”

The initial session with Dr. Friesen will be 90 minutes long. Every session after the initial session will be one hour long. It is important that you arrive on time for your appointment, as Dr. Friesen is unable to extend sessions past the pre-booked hour. You will be in session for 50 minutes, with the remaining 10 minutes reserved for clinical note taking.
Initially, Dr. Friesen will conduct a 90 minute session with you to better understand the issues you have been experiencing and discuss a treatment plan and approach that is right for you. Towards the end of this initial session, you will be asked about your goals. What do you want to gain from therapy? This helps Dr. Friesen understand how best to target the intervention so that you are getting what you want out of treatment. It is a good idea to think about your goals before you arrive for the first appointment.
After Dr. Friesen has come to understand your needs, and your goals have been set, therapy can begin. Exactly what happens here will vary according the issues and goals identified. Dr. Friesen will give you an estimate of how many sessions may be required for you to reach your goals.
Initially, clients usually come on a weekly basis. As you progress, sessions are spaced further apart as you apply the skills you are learning in your everyday life.
